The cover acts as an insulator for the crystals, thereby reducing conductive heat transfer and increasing infrared heat transfer. Additionally, the cotton cover provides protection from sweat, oils, and dirt, which can be easily washed off in a machine unlike the BioMat itself.
While the BioMat already comes with a fitted cotton cover, it can be helpful to have an extra one on hand. This way, you can keep using the BioMat while the other cover is being washed.
